For the sake of Allah… April 28, 2006Posted by Muhajirah in General, Islam, Random Musings.
Insha’Allah you are all well.
For the sake of Allah, or not at all?
Sometimes, I’m a bit reluctant to say that, of course everything we do should be for the sake of Allah (swt) the creator of all that is in the heavens and in the earth. But should we abandon doing something, if we know that we are not doing it for the sake of Allah (swt)?
Example, observing hijaab for the sake of fashion is bad but its better than not observing hijaab at all. Saying that, there is no point in covering, if you’re intentions are not pure, you’re not getting any reward for it, and in fact you’re probably guilty of being a hypocrite.
Then again, how many of our actions are purely for the sake of Allah? How many of us strive to please our Lord, in everything we do? Islaam is a deen and deen is a complete way of life. So everything we do should be for the sake of Allah. When we eat, it shouldn’t be because we enjoy food and find pleasure in eating it, but because our body has to be maintained in order for us to fulfil our Islamic duties, because our body has a right over us and because it was given to us by Allah (swt) and we should look after it.
I suppose if we did eat for the sake of Allah (swt) we would be healthier, cos we would think before we eat junk food, in fact we would receive reward twofold because 1) we are eating for the sake of Allah, which in itself would get us reward, but 2) when eating for the sake of Alllah we would have to eat nutritious food and that means giving something up for the sake of Allah (i.e. all the junk food). I can just see. the level of diabetes and heart disease in the Asian population fall :D. As well as that, we would be happier (increased imaan and good health = happiness (?)). We would be able to pray better, work more efficiently… the list goes on.
Not bad eh? Or do I just have a big imagination? Hmm…
